Planning approved for 32 new homes in Athlone

Westmeath County Council has granted planning permission for 32 houses to be built at a building site in Athlone.

Salamisso Developments applied to remove existing ground-floor slabs at an unfinished development at the Orchard in Blyry Lower.

They would be replaced by 23 three-bedroom houses and nine four-bedroom homes, designed by Longford architect Mark Cunningham.

The council has granted permission, subject to 16 conditions. Local councillor Aengus O’Rourke says the houses are badly needed in Athlone.
